Old Timer's Beef Stew

2 lbs stew meat
2 T oil
1 lg onion
1 clove garlic-crushed
4 c. boiling water
1 T salt
1 T lemon juice
1 t sugar
1 t worchestershire
1/2 t pepper
1/2 t paprika
1 bay leaf
6 carrots cut up/ 6 potatoes diced
1 lb small white onions
1/2 c. cold water
1/4 c flour

Brown beef well in oil. Add next 10 ingredients. Cover and simmer apx 2 hours stirring frequently. Add veggies and simmer 30 mins. REMOVE THE BAY LEAF! Mix cold water and flour in a jar. Add to stew, cook and stir constantly til thickens, allow another 5 minutes or so and serve.
